World Milk Day

World Milk Day is a day established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to recognise the importance of milk as a global food. It has been observed on June 1st each year since 2001. The day is intended to provide an opportunity to bring attention to activities that are connected with the milk industry.

UK dairy farms have halved over the last 12 years and dairy farmers get paid less per pint than it costs to produce it, so who can blame those that leave the industry. Most though are forced to end their chosen way of life because of financial issues. Shame.

We use about two gallons a week ( 16 U.K. pints ) in our house. Plus another pint at the farm on the weekends - you can't beat proper milk in your coffee!

As a nod to the day, I've gathered together some of my 'herd'!

DRINK MORE MILK!!!!
