Yellow Rose in Full Bloom

“There was something rather blousy about roses in full bloom, something shallow and raucous, like women with untidy hair”

From 'Rebecca' by Daphne du Maurier (1907 - 1989)

More rain for a while this morning, but thankfully it stopped in time to go out for a delicious lunch with Mum, my sister Susan and niece Sharon.  I had the largest slab of mushroom, spinach and parmesan quiche I've ever seen on a dinner plate.  It was a most excellent quiche, too - the egg was like a gorgeous fluffy omelette.  After tea and cakes back at home and waving off Susan and Sharon, I got on with sweeping up all the debris that had blown down from the trees onto the patio.  As the wind is still huffing and puffing outside this evening there's sure to be more branches, catkins, leaves and petals to come - gardens are always a work-in-progress and never finished...
