tropical storm

In Florida, as you may have heard, we have been hit by a tropical storm. Even though we live on the Braden River and the Gulf of Mexico is nearby, we have fared pretty well. Yes, there has been wind & rain and more rain to come. But flooding right here has been minimal.

The top photo I took about 2:30pm. The river had creeped up over our dock and our sea wall. I get a little spooked when it gets like that. There was a super high tide this afternoon and combine that with the tide coming in and the rain coming down, and that's what you will get.

The bottom photo was taken a couple of hours later, with the river receding back to normal, phew. There is our dock again! Our home is 9-1/2 feet about the mean average high tide, so there is that to be thankful for. The high tide today from Storm Colin was about a foot above normal, so we still had many feet to go. Hopefully this system will work it's way out of here soon!

We are safe.
