Skip's Blips

A memorable moment

I have been trail walking in Chagrin River Park for at least 15 years, and this morning I saw a redheaded woodpecker in the park for the very first time. Others may have seen it, but I never had, so I was delighted. He was really high up on a dead tree, almost out of reach of my 300mm lens, but I caught him a little closer, helping himself to a piece of fruit, and posted a second picture as today's extra photo. He is distinctive because he is the only woodpecker in the Eastern USA that has an entirely red head.
