Life Imitates Art

We are away for a quick overnight about 90 miles from home.  Husband is doing another stretch of running along the canal in his quest to run all 184 miles.  After a 6.5 mile run today, lunch and a major nap, we headed out to explore this old town in northwestern Maryland called Hagerstown.  They have a lovely City Park with lakes, picnic areas, and museums and this is where we spent a couple of hours before we headed off to our biggest find of all.  Brian Voltaggio of Top Chef has a restaurant here.   We stumbled on this when we went to Open Table this afternoon to look for a restaurant that wasn’t a chain. We had been to his original restaurant in Frederick MD years ago, before he became a celebrity chef. Rather than a very elegant restaurant with white table cloths, we found a casual family restaurant. It wasn’t quite what we expected and we were a bit overdressed without our flip flops and shorts, but the food didn’t disappoint.

We will be up early tomorrow for another run before it gets too hot and then we will head home.  I should probably clarify, husband runs and I drop off, pick up and take photos in between.
