Norfolk Island Pines

These are endemic to the island and now planted in other countries, often along fore shores. They live for about 300 years and grow to a fair size.

Today was half day close ( Wednesday) ....Saturday was half day close ( Saturday ) ....Sunday the shops were closed.....Monday the shops were closed for (Public holiday). The national anthem is God save the Queen. The phone book has people listed by nickname. There is no garbage collection. There are no street lights. There are no income taxes. The fish and chips are the best I have ever eaten. Sometimes there are
no fish due to the weather. The locals are used to doing without if supplies don't get in. Such a lovely gentle way of life with little crime. Everyone is friendly. Most of the tourists seem elderly. Most tourists are from Aus and NZ as that is where the planes fly in from, one a day. There are few small planes as they have no where to fly to. Lord Howe is the closest settlement and is 600+ kilometres away.

One "thing" to do is go to the airport to see the planes come in.

This evening we are going to the Wonderland by Night show, I think it is poetry reading outside somewhere.....I will practice the Automatic setting on my camera which takes night shots in bursts to capture images with no tripod...ummmm I wonder how that will go.
