FLOWER FRIDAY - DAVID'S ROSE

We bought this rose, which is called “In Memory”, about 7 years ago and planted it in our garden in memory of David, a very good friend, who died. I am always pleased to see this rose blooming, and of course, it reminds us of David and also his wife, Brenda, who died many years before him.

Brenda and I became friends when we worked together and then had our first babies within three months of each other, so often used to meet and stayed friends until she sadly died a few years later. 1971 must have been a good year because our older son now has his own business and Brenda and David's son is a Professor at a University in America, so they have both done very well.

It has rained very heavily overnight, but Mr. HCB will still be going out into the garden - I wanted to paint our garden seat, but I think that will have to wait now - I just hope we have the opportunity to sit out in the garden but this rain doesn't look as if it will stop any time soon.

Such sad news yesterday about Jo Cox who was viciously murdered in West Yorkshire - our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

It has caused a lot of problems
     in the world,
but has not solved one yet."
