Dyfi Estuary

Completed the reminder of the journey to Aberdovey today. Took most of the day as we were not in any hurry so enjoyed the drive west  through Shrewsbury and Welshpool to Machynlleth and along the Dyfi estuary to our accommodation at the Panteidal Fatmhouse. It's a large old farmhouse, three bedrooms, all ensuite, set in woodland just off the main road. It seems a very pleasant place.

We were the first to arrive just after 3.00pm so had time to unpack and sort things out before the other two couples turned up at 4.00 and 5.30.

Nice seating areas, but surrounded by woodland so not much of a view until you crossed the road, went under the railway line and clambered over a few rocks to reveal the Dyfi estuary in its full late afternoon glory.

It was a fine evening, quite in contrast to the weather on the journey which improved as we travelled westward. Kent, we heard, had lots of heavy showers.

As has become the habit on these trips we ate out on the first evening, Alan choosing the Britannia Inn in Aberdovey. Great views of the estuary, harbour and hills on the other side of the water. Food was very good too.

Weather may be kind tomorrow, but looks a bit iffy after that.
