But, then again . . . . .

For the third week running, it seems it was my turn to lead the cycle run, the original nominated gentleman called off at short notice as he had broken a finger. In a previous life, all my spare time was spent hanging around judo clubs and competitions supporting Jnr; the lad was pretty good after a slow start, in his final year as a junior he was finally British champion having been competing for nearly twelve years. Broken fingers and toes are very common in that sport but they just tie their fingers together to create splints then carry on fighting.

Back to the run, it was well attended for such a long hilly one with lunch at Dollar where they have interesting public conveniences priced at twenty pence a shot. Cyclists are and ingenious lot and we managed to get everybody through on the one coin. It was essential that the ladies used it first as it gets a little more messy with each use; and it has been known for the machine to begin its wash cycle before the last person has finished, which can be a little embarrassing.

The Blip is of occasional fellow Blipper, Cameraeverready, at the top of Cleish Hill, a rise of a mere 500 feet having already climbed 400 to reach its base. Surprisingly, the Forth Road Bridge involves a climb of 180 feet.

I've just posted Monday's "Veronica."
