On Westport Beach

15.6C bright with sunny spells and plenty of cloud. Moderate WNW breeze.

Apothecary7's day off. This morning we left Maeve the Deerhound at home and walked along to the recently renovated and reopened town hall. There was a coffee morning for the local charity Shopper Aide(which helps older people stay in their own homes by providing a very low cost shopping service, odd jobs, and home help). We thought a worthwhile charity to support and it gave us a chance to see inside the town hall. All good. Most enjoyable. Bonus of a home baking stall from which I bought two squares of chocolate cake (excellent with afternoon tea).

On the way home we visited the local second hand bookshop. We had a good look round the shelves and came out with a couple of books. An intriguing emporium deserving of future visits.

We came home and got Maeve then drove up to Glenbarr for lunch. Feeling rather full we went to Westport beach and had a good long walk. Maeve enjoyed a wander off her lead. She did get her paws wet but I wouldn't say she paddled. The light was great and the waves were rushing into shore. The beach was astonishingly busy, but most of the people stay at the car park end so we still had most of it to ourselves. We came away feeling much less full and quite salty from the onshore breeze.
