First Hummingbird Hawkmoth

Today the forecast was for sunshine all day so we set off for Sonthofen to find some tourist information and maps for walking in the hills. By time we arived it was lunchtime so we ate our sandwiches in the sun and waited for the tourism office to open again. They were very helpful and off we we drove to a small village called Zaumberg. The walk was wonderful mostly through farmland on well marked paths. We could hear birds singing, crickets in the long grass and the cows with their bells ringing, perfect. There were loads of insects about including this Hummingbird Hawkmoth in a wildflower meadow. It's the first one I've seen this year and I only managed a couple of shots as it kept zooming off. I'm really pleased with this as it was quite breezy at the time.

Thanks so much for the comments and stars for yesterday's colourful suit, really glad you all liked it.
