19240 Shrouds of the Somme

After a morning spent putting the stage up and dressing the barn plus doing some work to keep the wind and weather out, it's all looking good and it's ready for us to put the PA and lights up tomorrow. By the time we;ve played for two hours at the gig, I think I should sleep well!

This afternoon I went up to Exeter to Northernhay Gardens in Exeter. The final figure was set in place this morning, 100 years after the first day of the Battle of the Somme. The figures are all wrapped in hand stitched shrouds and 19240 was the number of Allied servicemen who died on that first day. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that it was a very moving display.
