Tivoli Gardens

After a quick breakfast, we hopped on a bus to the Carlsberg Brewery in the west of the city.  A great self-guided tour included the world's largest collection of beer, and some free drinks at the end - the barman a guy from Glasgow.

After leaving Carlsberg, we found Cisternerne, an old underground water reservoir that's now exhibition space. It was a quick visit. The dark, damp atmosphere along with the haunting sound effects were pretty creepy, so we rushed out again, not long after going in. Instead, we crossed the road to visit the Copenhagen Zoo.

The zoo here is great, as you get so close to the animals.  I think the best was the polar bear.  I've seen polar bears before at the Highland Wildlife Park, but you don't appreciate the size and power until one is swimming just feet below you.  Managed to brave the butterfly house with only a few terrified flinches, and impressed myself by not whacking any exotic species like I do to moths in my bedroom.

We headed along to Tivoli Gardens in time for dinner.  You wouldn't believe this place was in the middle of a city, it's like another world. We avoided the rides, but had a great time looking around the shops, wandering round the grounds, and dinner at a little lakeside restaurant.  Afterwards, we sat by the boating pond to watch the illuminations.

A few extra pics uploaded tonight for the collection.
