Bembridge Lifeboat Station, Isle of Wight

Rebuilt in 2010, replacing a similar structure. An impressive design. We were able to visit this afternoon and learn about this important rescue service. Yesterday they were out all day, assisting crews in the Round the Island Race. Several yachts capsized, masts broke and one sank.

We also visited the Bembridge Windmill, climbing steep ladders up four storeys to the top. Then great views along the coast from Culver Cliffs and Bembridge Fort. Strategic defence position during the wars.

We also saw a train at Brading Station, with old carriages from London Underground.

And #1 will be interested to know there are far more potholes on main roads here than in Edinburgh. Very poor road surfaces.
