Garden life

The youf started coming back from the hut in dribs and drabs, from early to late. Pancakes and bacon were cooked. More monopoly was played.

I took Claire to Lanark for the start of her 3 week OYT adventure. An inauspicious start - due to ScotRail strikes the whole journey from Glasgow to Oban will be on a bus replacement service. And the ticket machine at Lanark doesn't appear to be plugged in, so the "collect on departure" service we'd selected was never going to work.

Johnny spends the day trying to turn a wild strip of reeds and grasses into a bed, under some rigid plastic tubes. He scattered large quantities of out-of-date sees, but I think he'll be lucky to get anything more than weed regrowth.

I tidied the office and the bees. The weather has been so shite recently they'll need fed again. They haven't drawn out all the brood frames, so no hurry getting supers on them.

The visitors depart. Megan gets ready for Tinto. Angus varnishes the ramp and then settles down to The Book of the New Sun in his overalls.

Avocado and grilled hummus for tea and then we try to watch Old Boy but settle for Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade. We agree that it's so bad, it's good.
