Bee

The summer of 1990, memorable because it was the year after the death of Sir Peter Scott, ws when we tootled down to Slimbridge Wildlife and Wetlands Trust for an evening course on beekeeping hosted by Philippa Scott answering our (far too numerous ) questions.

Exciting though the prospect was of owning our own hives, babies, house renovations and logistics of getting to hive site on a regular basis knocked it on the head.

And we love honey - a dollop in an apple crumble with a shot (or two) of Calvados is truly yummy (with a Scottish shortbread topping for those in the know) OH yes!!

So to the point - this bee - one of numerous types in the lavender I planted a couple of years ago - possibly a buff tailed bumble-bee is one of many images. Suddenly I have the whole families input - a bit controversial but hey I can take criticism, is the one they plumped for ....hmmm :)

It definitely has to be viewed larger
