Clouds over Westport Beach

14.3C and bright with plenty of cloud, Clearing to longer sunny spells in the early afternoon before more clouds appeared. Moderate WNW then Westerly breeze.

Apothecary7's day off. We took Maeve the Deerhound for a little wander round town this morning, on the way stopping to look in the second hand bookshop window. I spotted a small book called Seaside and Moorland birds. Bargain. The illustrations inside are lovely.

Later in the morning we went to Westport beach and had a long walk along the sand towards Machrihanish. We walked as far as we have before, reaching Machrihanish Dunes golf course before turning round to go back. Maeve didn't go in paddling. Too many waves breaking and not calm enough in the shallows. She did meet some other dogs and some people. She has become very interested in meeting people this year. I think she has worked out that it provides an excuse to stop walking.

We went to Glenbarr for lunch, then on the way out bought the plant Apothecary7 had been painting last Tuesday in the "Art in the Hothouse" workshop. Anemone 'Wild Swan'. We planted it in the garden in a semi shaded spot which we can see from the kitchen window.

Extra: Another of those seaweed on the sand shots

Note: You probably have to know where to look to spot Islay and Jura in the main picture.
