Now, as I see it......

Brick Phone

I suppose you could say we were 'early adopters'. Twenty five years ago we were both working in different parts of London and commuted in together from 50 miles to the north. Mobile phones had moved on from needing a battery in a back pack to power them, but not very much. Because it could be useful for reporting any delays, meetings etc. that might get in the way of meeting up for the journey home, we thought a mobile phone would be useful. Not one each, of course; that would have been extravagant. Just the one. And so we got this. The contract cost the same as I pay for my contract now 25 years later, but there were no texts, internet access or apps. You couldn't count your steps or map your run; you could make phone calls and that was it. But it was useful; it gave peace of mind, and it was once used to call the emergency services when we found a car on its roof not far from home (no-one seriously hurt).

W isn't really into smartphones so I think sometimes she wishes she was still using this. JanetHH is hosting the Derelict Sunday challenge this month and this weeks challenge is 'technology'. I think this fits the bill.
