The Travelling Cockatiel

Today's Mono Monday Challenge is People - many thanks to Skeena for hosting.  I'm down in Holt again for a photography course with my dear friends Gracie and Mark. I also took the opportunity to go round the bungalow I'm buying to check the floor plan and where radiators etc for planning where the furniture will go.

We also managed a trip down the road to see the Black Prince steam train arrive and leave from Holt station which is the terminus of the Poppy Line.  I saw this interesting scene and thought I'd have a chat with the guy carrying the bird cage.  His name is Roger and there's a Cockatiel in the cage called Tilly.  He was chatting to Peter, one of the station masters.  Peter and Roger are both volunteers on the Poppy Line, a great tourist attraction. Roger decided to bring Tilly along to work one day and she loved the experience and now travels on the line once a week.  Her party piece is 'clipping' the paper tickets. Obviously she's a big success with the tourists.  I think the work done by volunteers is amazing, on the Poppy Line, beach cleans, environmental projects, in charity shops, at Stately Homes owned by the National Trust and English Heritage and so on. Long may this generosity of spirit continue!

The extras are of the tourists photographing the Black Prince as it 'changes ends', and a portrait of Peter.
