The new black

A really dull drizzly day today - despite the weather forecast which predicted sun later this afternoon.  It ain't happened yet, and we are running out of time.

We watched a program on TV last night about hoarding, and today got inspired to "declutter".  In amongst all the pet junk that I manage to accumulate, I found a black magpie feather, and thought it would do for an emergency.  Then I got to thinking I could do a macro showing the specialised way that bird feathers can zip and unzip.

Then I saw that it really wasn't black at all, but a myriad of iridescence, and I forgot about the macro.  The colour is amazing, and who'd have thought!

Elvis and his son have chuckled their way right onto the front page of popular, and they thank you all immensely.  They said to say that if you are ever travelling down this way, you're welcome to come and meet them - especially at this time of year, because in summer we hardly see them at all.  Oh, and it has to be for afternoon tea, about 4pm.
