Budgie :-)

This is the first photo of our new family member. The lady in the shop thinks it might be a boy as it was quiet when caught, the females usually squawk more apparently. When it gets a bit older, the strip above its beak (the cere) should change colour, blue for a boy, pink or brown for a girl.


He was very quiet to start with and stood very still. apparently they do this when frightened to avoid drawing attention. He is now shuffling about a bit, having a little wing stretch and paying a bit more attention to his surroundings.

His cage is positioned so he can only be approached from the front to make him feel more secure and we are leaving him be for a while to let him settle in.

We haven't settled on a name yet but suggestions include:-
