Marjorie's ramblings

Lots of visitors in town today

Mum and I worked on the walking festival printed programme this morning and made great strides.

On the down side of life, Mum could not lift her arms above shoulder height this morning. It's a sign that the polymyalgia rheumatica has flared up. She has been slowly reducing the steroid dose over a year and was down to 3mg a day. At least we know that the symptoms will go away with an increased dose.

Just when you think you can pop your head above the parapet.........

This afternoon, I took Mum to Hexham for her hair appointment. It was a lovely afternoon and great to see the town busy with visitors. The main bridge into town has been closed for a few weeks and that has hit the local businesses very hard. I hope they can catch up with summer visitors.

I went off shopping and spotted this couple on a bench outside Hexham Abbey. I assumed they were international visitors, but they were actually from Blaydon! Great hats.

He was enjoying fish and chips beside a sign that asks visitors not to feed the birds (whose droppings damage the ancient structures). No danger here; he was enjoying his lunch.

Today's photo was taken using the offending camera and battery from yesterday. Humph.
