MV Isle of Arran Passing the Shipyard (6)

16.1C with overnight rain clearing during the morning then cloudy, warm, and humid. Light Westerly breeze.

It was raining this morning when I took Maeve the Deerhound for her early morning walk, so no wander round to see the ferry leaving.

I chose fresh Haddock fillets when I went to the fish shop today. I called in at the local shoe shop too and bought some light walking shoes to replace the trainers I bought at the beginning of June. I have worn them out already !

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for a wander after lunch. Classical music on the iPod Mini. We had to wait to cross the road because the escorted low loaders came along from the harbour loaded with the hubs for the turbine blades that have travelled along the road in the last few days.

We went out past the harbour and had a wander round the old quay, where I noticed the crew on Vectis Harrier putting the big deck hatches in place, then carried on along the shore side of the narrow park to the little grass area by the cemetery where I had a seat, listened to some music, and watched a Heron fishing near the shore. A whole line of fishing boats, yachts, and a big motor cruiser came into the loch. A fast boat that takes tourists on thrill rides out round the coast set off across the loch and out of the channel.

Then I noticed the Pilot boat. As always faster than all the other boats. It came out from the harbour and circled back, I think warning the motor cruiser and a yacht that Vectis Harrier was leaving the new quay. We stayed and watched Vectis Harrier come very slowly out from the new quay then gradually pick up speed and make its way out past the shipyard and out through the channel and past Davaar island.

Then we wandered back along the street side of the park and came home though town passing the town hall and the second hand bookshop on the way.

Afternoon music ... Jazz.

It was a very nice evening (quite warm) so Apothecary7 and I had a walk round Low Askomill to the old Shipyard for 9pm and watched the ferry come across the sound, it having come round the South of Arran from Ardrossan. We watched until it passed the shipyard and made its way across Campbeltown loch to the ferry terminal for its arrival time of 9.20pm , then we came back home. Ferry Friday again :-)
