Driftwood

16.6C cloudy in the morning, then some rain. Dry for most of the afternoon, then more rain for a while with heavy showers. Zephyr then a light SSE breeze later.

Grocery shopping over by mid morning. The rain was on by the time we had finished in the first of the two supermarkets we visit so we decided to stay at home, have lunch, watch the F1 on telly then see if it was dry.

Not long after 3pm we went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach to Carskey Bay where we had a slow wander with Maeve the Deerhound  from one end of the beach to the other and back.

The sea was flat calm and the tide was just starting to turn and go out. Tiny waves were breaking a yard or two offshore. There were spells of smir. Plenty of Dunlin and Ringed Plovers on the beach. Two fishermen at the far end near shore cottage at the mouth of the river. A seal made a fleeting appearance as we reached the far end of the beach. On the way back we watched Cormorants performing their sinuous dives from the surface as a few Gannets soared by in the sky above.

On the way home we looked for seals as we passed Keil cemetery. There were plenty in the water but none were hauled out on the rocks. Further along the road back to Campbeltown we stopped at the farm stand but were disappointed to see there were no eggs left. Plenty of bags of salad, one or two round Courgettes, some Kale, some Chard, and two jars of Rhubarb and Ginger jam.
