Taking Crop Samples

19.0C with lots of sunny spells and through the middle of the day lots of sunny sunshine. Light breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound was out in her garden all morning.

Maeve and I went for a walk after lunch. It wasn't too warm when we set off but the sun came out and Maeve got slower. We went up to the church then continued out along the country road to Scryne. We turned right at Craigmill farm and went down the track to the shore road. The farmer and a worker were walking in the field to the right of the track taking crop samples..

We came back along the cycle path and went down to the beach at Westhaven via the level crossing. We wandered along the beach very slowly. The tide was well out so Maeve couldn't go paddling. Valhalla A was moored out at the seaward end of the channel through the rocks. The other boats were lying near the beach on the damp sand and seaweed. Skipper Tom was working on Shamara II.

Maeve was feeling very hot. We came up off the beach at the fishermen's huts, came along East Row and over the road bridge over the railway then carried on round in a long loop heading into Carnoustie and up the main road before turning along for home.

As soon as we got home Maeve had half a bowl of water then went out into her garden to find a shady place.
