Eastergate Bridge

I've been wanting to go see this bridge for quite some time so when the weather looked good today I decided today was the day.  It's a 17th or 18th century  single-span Grade II  listed packhorse bridge, and is also known as Close Gate Bridge .  It crosses the River Colne near its source in the Marsden Moor National Trust Estate and is on the route of the Huddersfield to Rochdale packhorse trail.

There was also a country fair being held at the visitor's centre, with livestock and local produce;  for the first time in as long as I can remember I ate a picnic lunch by the side of the canal followed by ice cream and a ride back downstream on a barge  -  see how the other half lives  !!!!  :-))
