Primary Colours

Those meadow flowers were so beautiful, I just had to go back to enjoy them.

I've learned today that the seed was sown by Harry Crook, the owner of Mountfield Lodge Cottage, which sits on Epinal Way. Every year for umpteen years, Harry has fashioned a flower display around the front of the cottage and consistently wins Loughborough in Bloom. Like me, he seems to have a preference for petunias.

A couple I met told me he's now been guided into being a judge rather than a winner.

As well as this wild flower meadow, he has also planted Spring bulbs of daffodils, snowdrops and crocuses along the length of Wood Brook. I have earmarked this wonderful prospect for next Spring.
