Kalyn and Gramps

Here's G with one of his favourite girls.  He always comments on how lucky he is to have four beautiful women in his life, and he loves us all to bits.  The feeling is mutual.  :)
Another lovely day on Salt Spring!  We all made breakfast together:  crepes cooked to perfection by Kalyn and Marcus, served with a fruit salad of nectarines, peaches and apricots, blueberry jam, bananas and whipped cream and a savoury option of smoked salmon and cream cheese.  Yum!  The green and wax beans are producing like crazy, so after breakfast, K, M and I picked two huge bowls of them.
We had to choose between Ruckle Park and Burgoyne Bay and decided on Burgoyne because we thought that Ruckle would be really busy.   We snacked on blackberries picked on the trail, got settled in a shady spot, then K and M moved rocks on the beach to reveal "thousands and thousands" of sand crabs, skipped rocks and enjoyed the peacefulness of the beach, which we had to ourselves.  We saw an otter swimming then come out of the water and head into the forest, and several kingfishers (one hovered for ages before diving) and had some snacks before heading home to get ready for dinner at Auntie Pesto's.  Delicious as always!  After a stroll around the boardwalk, we took in some music at the Tree House.
When we got home, we played the rubber match of the crib "tournament", and K and M won.  :)  One of K's favourite things to do here is star watch, so she, M and I went out just as it was getting dark, set up the chairs, bundled up in blankets (K even wore my toque!) because it was surprisingly chilly, and marvelled as "...the constellations Revealed themselves one star at a time."*   There were a few spectacular shooting stars!  We could hear the deer moving around and eating outside the fence.  As we came in about an hour and a half later, K said that the evening sky is one of the most beautiful things she's seen.  I have to agree.
K and M are leaving late tomorrow afternoon, so we have to squeeze in a morning visit to Ruby's beach and a walk in the forest before they go.
