Yorkshire Day

The first of August is Yorkshire Day so we went over the border to Lancashire for our Monday walk! But we went well armed - see Corinthian Column https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2206781312411369731
brave of us in sight of Pendle Hill I think!

We were in the district of Pendle walking down into the lovely, restored village of Wycoller with its ancient Hall and these amazing bridges across Wycoller Beck. This clapper bridge was taken on our return to Wycoller on the way back but we crossed another one, initially (extra) to climb up through Trawdon Forest to the village of Trawdon and circle back around the moor.
I love clapper bridges and this one, which must have been there hundreds of years, is astonishing. I can't imagine how they got it in place

It was a super walk, a little cloudy but it stayed fine and we had refreshments and lunch on the way back at the Grouse, Oldfield in Yorkshire ofcourse. Happy Yorkshire Day!
