Another favourite

Posting early today as we are off to visit our son in hospital in Stockport. Had his spine op on Monday and it seems to have gone well. So far so good.

These are Japanese Anemones. The best thing about them is that they flower from early August right through to October.

Originally from China but grown for centuries in Japanese gardens. They were introduced into Europe in 1844. But they seem to have been mislaid in the UK until they were rediscovered in a garden in Somerset in the late 1970s.

They have become very popular and justifiably so.
