a lifetime burning

Today was our last day in Glasgow, tomorrow we move onwards to Edinburgh and its festival.

We have loved our few days in this city (and hope to be back) - sadly it has lived up to its raintown reputation in the last 24 hours.  Still, it has meant that we have needed to take shelter in the occasional pub or two during the course of the day, so, not a complete disaster ;-)

The main shot is a fabulous mural on the flank wall of a High Street building by Smug.  The photograph doesn't really do it justice.  I had thought that Bristol had some great street art, and of course it does. But Glasgow has some very high quality murals that certainly give Bristol a run for its money.

In the extras are a shot from the inside of St Mungo's Cathedral, and an interior shot from Glasgow's City Chambers building.

This evening we wandered down to Merchant Square, where there was a music and food festival.  We spent a lovely evening, and had a great meal.  I had a delicious beer or two in the friendly  (and dry) Blackfriars pub.  Our walk home was a little damp, as the extra of the two security guards shows.  As you can see, although they have been equipped with a brolly, things have moved a bit beyond brollies ...
