Finished!

It was the last day of Tour today as we all head home tomorrow.  The morning was over to the serious stuff of the Tour Championships Classic Race.  Roger's excellent planning meant that the youngsters generally negotiated the challenge of Inshriach well and returned in good time to the finish.  The midges were horrendous for those of us out manning controls and, despite my hat and buff, I returned with a perfect line of bites across my forehead!

After lunch it was time for some fun with the balloon relay in teams of three.  I was placed with Mikey and Roger so the pressure was on.  Each team member has to complete two mini courses of the Lagganlia site with a balloon, ensuring it stays intact, not easy in Scottish forest!

The youngsters were still not tired out so mazes were set up to practise their speed and ability to navigate quickly and then it was time for 'date night' at dinner.  The junior coaches created a 'dining experience' for the young athletes and wait on them at their tables.  Following dinner we had our awards presentation with chocolate medals for the gold, silver and bronze placings in the main races of the week, and chocolate 'midges' for everyone else.  Finally, because it is the opening of the Olympics this weekend, the junior coaches staged a Lagganlia Olympics with three-legged races, paper aeroplane competition, egg throwing (terrific fun), wheelbarrow races and a blindfolded obstacle course.

It is now after midnight and we are sitting up for the traditional 'escape'!

My blip is of Tony finishing the final leg with the juniors forming a guard of honour for him coming in to the finish.
