Kitchen Cove, 11.14am, 06.8.16

I completely forgot about Kitchen Cove last week so busy were with we larking about on Sherkin Island. As you can see, the mist has come down today - actually warm fog - and it has remained all day. I suspect the rest of the country is basking in glorious sunshine.

So much for a quiet day, I had to go into Bantry and then Schull - where a very damp Family Fun Day was taking place in the fog as part of the Regatta weekend. Gangs of little children were crabbing by the harbour and the streets were crammed with boaty types in shorts.

A huge wedding was underway in Durrus as I came home - very novel use of hay bales!

And evidence of my disgusting moment yesterday with the cowpat has come through - do not look if you have a nervous or squeamish disposition for it is not pretty. Not also the very attractive scratches - the perils of well hunting. Photo courtesy of Finola.

Himself is now in Ullapool where it is thundering and lightening and gales and storms are forecast! He's feeling quite at home.
