Skipper

Another day of excellent competitions at the AOG (Alternate Olympic Games) today and I've just dropped into the main venue this afternoon.

High hopes for this little skipper in the nectar drinking competition in the grassy arena just outside the stadium.  She was up against Billy Burnet the local hero and moth champion extraordinaire! This was a huge grudge match - moths v butterflies - and the crowd was absolutely in uproar chanting for their favourite. 

The judge  a venerable grasshopper of latter years is sitting on the seed-head keeping a keen eye on proceedings! He also happens to be the grasshopper coach in charge of what is affectionately known in his home town as the G 'n T's (Grasshoppers in Training Squad) which amuses the locals greatly as he is a tee-totaler. He tries to crack a smile  EVERY time someone comes out with this pun and it has worn a bit thin, tho' I think secretly he enjoys the notoriety. 

However a comment by a wag from the Beetle team, 'Drinking it all in Judge?' met with an icy stare and the little chap seemed suitably chastened till he went round the corner giggling collecting his winnings from Team Beetle who had put money on him bottling out. 

Hopefully the results will be posted soon but at present standing Billy is looking a little in the lead but stay tuned folks things can change within  a blink of an eye
