Jaguars at Lullingstone Castle

I really enjoyed our night in the tent. Susan found it a little more challenging, not sleeping so well as I did but then I've had a bit more experience over the years, this being only her third night under canvas. What was noticable was the number of jets passing overhead from a very early hour even early on a Sunday morning. You don't notice them so much when you're indoors.

A hearty breakfast was enjoyed then a morning walk around the golf course before picking up Doreen to take her out for lunch and a wander around Lullingstone Castle and Gardens. Owned by the Hart-Dyke family for many generations the son of the current owner, Tom, has created a World Garden depicting the flora associated with each continent. Very well done it was too and easy to push a wheelchair around, which was more than could be said for much of the rest of the paths.

The "Castle" was open as well for tours and a very knowledgable (almost too knowledgable) guide gave us a detailed explanation of pretty much everything in each room before we lost the will to live and decided to go back outside. There was a Jaguar Enthusiasts Group meeting in the grounds which made an interesting shot. The house has a Queen Anne facade built in front of a Tutor fortified manor. The Hart-Dykes didn't demolish their Tutor pile and replace it with a classical structure like many other of the gentry in the 18th C.

Back home for evening meal, a zesty lamb pasta dish which was suprisingly good. I finished off making the ice cream which is now freezing solid ready for next weekend.
