Fungi

We wanted to attend a talk about Bats at Hay Bridge Nature Reserve.  So we finished prepping the lodge as quickly as we could, hitched up "the Mates's" Defender and headed south to a  CL (Caravan Club certified Location)  near Newby Bridge.  Having arrived mid afternoon and got everything set up we decided to head to the reserve for a walk round before the lecture.

We parked up and set off through the woods, we hadn't gone far when I rounded a corner in the track and thought "what a funny place to put a statue".  Only it wasn't a statue it was a Roe Deer!  It froze for a couple of seconds and then was off.  As we headed back there it was again between us and the buildings.

Getting back to the car park we met other members who said they were going to see if the Ospreys were around, so we followed on behind. The Osprey weren't around but we got good views of 10 or so Red Deer.

The talk was brilliant followed by a session with bat detectors, Pipistrelles were coming out of the building and we heard ( on the detectors and saw) Noctules.  After that we went inside to see the captive bats the lady had.  Ones which had been brought to her so injured they couldn't return to the wild.  A great evening.

I have no idea what the fungi are they were just something interesting I saw as I walked round after seeing the Roe.  One of my readers may be able to enlighten me ;-)
