If you can't beat them...

Victor

Still down in the south of the county.  We have passed the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway and never been tempted to stop.  However thinking there may be photographic opportunities we decided to pay it a visit.

The morning was taken up having a run on the railway during which "the Mate" revealed he hadn't been on a train since 1968 and then it was a steam train!  After lunch we decided to have a look at the rapids near Newby Bridge.  Sadly we couldn't find a way to get near them so took some shots of the weir at the fish pass.

As luck would have it we were parked beside the Newby Bridge halt when the train was due.   Well you can't miss an opportunity can you, but I almost did, I was looking away at the wrong moment!

Victor was built in Stafford in 1951 by W G Bagnall & Co for the Steel Company of Wales (SCOW).  In 57 they were sold to Austin Motors for use at Longbridge.  It was while at Longbridge that it was named Victor..
