Above And Beyond...

Machen Trail Walk

My mechanic friend has been at the house all afternoon until 7.30pm, replacing the discs and pads on my car and front pads on Mrs BB car. Whilst he slaved away, we went for a local walk along the Machen trail. The trail is a legacy of by-gone days of early last century when Machen was an industrial centre with coal mines, quarries, and various smelting. The railway line has been removed and is now a footpath overgrown with trees and vegetation. The pits and other industry has all gone. It was so peaceful you could hear the quiet.

Prior to these industrail works, Machen was the main place in The Roman Empire for lead mining, being not too far from Caerleon, one of the main places in Roman britain, alongside London, Chester and York.

The blip photo is of some leaves that were nicely lit up by the sun finding its way through the vegetation. How time changes things.
