Maidstone town centre scene

Not inspirational today from a blip point of view, this is the best and only shot I can offer. Yet despite the paucity of the subject it was a very interesting day.

First we walked into town for coffee with friends Wendy and Chris to catch up with them both for the first time since Chris began his chemo. It was lovely to see them and have the chance to listen to their story and perhaps offer something in the way of support during these challenging times. But I guess that unless you've been through what they're both going through you don't have much understanding of what it's really like.

A bit of shopping later we walked home to prepare for our visitors, Stella and Paul, who arrived just before 3.00pm. As they arrived the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight passed low overhead. A Lancaster bomber, Spitfire, Hurricane and one other. A magnificent sight and sound but not one I was able to capture.

Then it was into entertainment mode; sitting outside in the warm sunshine, drinking tea (to begin with) with a tea cake, finishing off dinner prep, you know the sort of thing. I lit the fire pit which was a bad move as the smoke drifted over the table too much despite the pit being downwind. The wood smoke had a nice aroma but the ash tended to get everywhere.
