A first sighting...

Although lapwings are common in coastal environments it is the very first time that I have managed to see and photograph one on Belhaven Beach alongside the river meanders. I was also dead chuffed that I recognised immediately  by its long thin wispy crest. Unfortunately it did not hang around as I am sure I might have been able to get a better shot. Still this will do for the moment. It's definitely a juvenile and propably a male because of its solid black colouring on the neck and face.
