It Started Down Under

Normandy Beaches

D-Day and we drove by the coast of Normandy to visit different spots that were of importance to the Second World War. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the way time has healed some of the scars and how nature has taken its place in these buildings of war.

We wrote in the sand of the beach, Chinese signs and just drawings too. Threw pebbles into the sea and searched shelter from the rain.

Our final destination was the town where a real festival was being held: Arromanches-les-Bains. There were soldiers from different countries, Scottish bagpipe players, a singer who sang "We'll meet again" just the way they would have done it during the war. The atmosphere was almost enchanting.

On the end of the day on our way back I got migraine unfortunately. So while the rest had dinner at McDonald's, I waited in the car trying not to vomit. I managed to not vomit and felt better the next day after some extra sleep in the smallest darkest room.
