Potty!

We were definitely potty this afternoon going to Settle in the rain to take a look at the flower pot festival going on there.

Another funeral today (two consecutive days) so we fancied getting out but knew the forecast as poor. Decided to go ahead any way and had a very nice fish and chip lunch in the Shambles cafe in the Market Square. Sustained we headed for the tourist information and brought two of the three guides available.

We followed the town centre one and were pleasantly surprised at the back lanes and courtyards around Settle's historic centre as well as the inventive flower pot creations.

We decided to leave the second route around lower Settle and the riverside to another day, hopefully drier day. Couldn't leave without a visit to Ye Olde Naked Man cafe/bakery to buy some cakes for tea, well it is Friday! We always stopped here en route to the Lakes when I was a child when of course you always passed through Settle. With the bypass we rarely think to call in.

The festival goes on till the end of the month so we may be back. Hard to chose but I did like this rather wet horse peeping over the hedge. Think my lens is wet too! I'll probably do a Flickr link later so you can have a look at the others if you are interested.
