Es Hat Geschüttet (it poured)

It doesn't rain cats and dogs ("es regnet in Strömen") in Germany, or indeed stair rods ("richtig schiffen" according to dict.cc).

Moot got caught in the downpour when he was at the end of the garden.  He realised that he was going to get soaked and so he ran for the house (he's quite quick when he wants to be).  He came flying through the door only to discover that he had way too much momentum to stop.

it was, truth be told, quite an elegant glide over the wooden floor - the turn through 180° was really graceful.

We've spent the day trying to find a flat for a holiday.  You'd think that would be easy.  It isn't.  Some of the apartments are owned with people who have quite an old fashioned sense of what holiday makers should do.  Try to book something other than Saturday to Saturday and all you get is people talking about the end of the world - it can't be done.  More than a few want you to bring your own towels and bed linen.

My favourite was the one that said you wouldn't have to pay for the flat to be cleaned at the end of your stay if you did it yourself.  They would even provide the cleaning materials (how terribly generous).  I know that there's nothing I like more at the end of a holiday than to clean a flat before driving home.  And you just know that after you said that you've cleaned the place, they would say that it wasn't clean enough.  I can just imagine the crossed arms and the tutting.

The search continues.
