Can hoverflies smell?

The green bin men are late and there are four green bins out, three of which are full of the rubbish we've put in them.  I hope this isn't going to be one of those days when they don't turn up.

Smell is the theme JDO has chosen for Mono-Monday.  I did take a picture of my nose and now realise............... well better not to go there.  Instead I took a picture of a hoverfly on one of the flowers and wondered whether it had a sense of smell.  Who knows?
