Waahi Taakaro

Today a sister, a brother (the three of us who don't live in Nelson) and I went out to Mapua and then back into Nelson and up the Maitai River.

When we were teenagers we often swam at Waahi Taakaro on the Maitai River.  The drive up the valley was a nostalgia ride.  Pointing out to each other the places we'd swum (Black's Hole, Sharlands Creek and Waahi Taakaro) and reminiscing about some of the 'special' times we'd had there.

Then tonight a large group of family met out at a local restaurant to celebrate out Mum's 75th birthday (which was earlier in the week).    Family get-togethers are so important, and we don't make the effort often enough!
