Dust to Dust

There was nothing earlier today to indicate how it might differ from any other morning in the life of His Lordship and me with its usual progression of walking, coffee, crosswords, blipping and drawing.
It was the lucky timing of two cyclists from our old bunch of CTC members passing along the path at the foot of the garden as we were returning home that initiated an invitation for them to join us for coffee in the DowerHouse, and after that there were no bounds to the reminiscences that flowed for the next hour and a half.

HL and I both miss the cameraderie of our old group of cyclists with whom we cycled twice a week and who you got to know well on a ride of 60 miles or so.
The group changed dynamics after the old guard fell apart or died and a younger set of newly retired young things upped the pace and the distances- it was never felt the same and we stopped riding with them.

Mike and Dougie were actually on their way down to North Berwick when we waylaid them. I wonder if they made it there or if they shortened the ride after we let them go.
It was great to catch up on their news.

The blip of the latest elm tree to bite the dust has absolutely no connection to the blog- it's just the only photo I had time to take today.
