How to exercise your dog...

.....well, obviously not this one!   The dog I'm talking about lived in a Railway Station in the 1950's.   It was a big plus today to meet Jim Hall here, while searching for the long closed Deadwater Station on the old Hawick line.   Great-aunt Isa was the Stationmistress here for many years.

Jim - who farmed in Deadwater all his life - remembered Bella Gill very  clearly.     He had lots of stories to tell.    The best one was about her dog - pictured in extras.    There were three trains up, and three trains down ever day.   The dog always chased the trains out of the station and a mile or so down the line before she gave up.    Then she would wait for the next one going in the opposite direction.   All day...back and forward.
