Where is that Yacht Going ...

14.5C starting dull and dry then showers. Wind SSW to SSE to 32 mph with gusts to 49 mph.

Apothecary7's 7am start was an 8 am start today. That was different.

Since it was Friday and it was dry and the ferry had arrived sometime during the evening (the crossing from Ardrossan yesterday was cancelled on the CalMac website) Maeve the Deerhound and I went across the park to wait for the ferry to leave.

As usual the Ballycastle passenger ferry left first (I assume 7.30 am departure). Then we had some fun for Ferry Friday. A yacht left the marina just as the ferry had cast off and was about to leave the quay. The yacht went out ahead of the ferry, got well clear, then for some odd reason turned across towards the South shore and crossed the path of the ferry. A few seconds later the ferry let rip with the ship's horn in a series of loud blasts. Quite a lot of loud blasts. Any sleepy passengers would have been startled awake I am sure. Probably the ferry wheelhouse crew too. Fortunately the yacht was well clear. It came round behind the ferry and followed it out towards the channel albeit much more slowly. I was a little surprised when I got home and told A7 what had happened that she hadn't heard it !

After lunch Maeve the Deerhound and I went for the repeat of our usual morning walking route across the road and round to the park and the harbour and back along through town. We met a couple who are our neighbours "through the wall" and stopped to have a blether.

Once Maeve was back home and settled I went for a walk. Jean Michel Jarre on the Clip (Oxygene). I had hoped to get out before the forecast rain and gales, but the rain had arrived ahead of the forecast time. Surprise ! I just walked out to the end of the park beyond the ferry terminal and came back along the more sheltered street side.
