Newcastle Downunder

Blast! I missed it

This lioness had just missed a Thommie (Thompsons Gazelle).  She had tried for it herself while the other lionesses were resting with the two older cubs.  We watched her stalk it and then see it see her and run off at speed.  She just gave up and sat down and yawned.

This was in the evening.  In the morning we had gone for a balloon flight.  Wonderful except that the pilot didn't seem to be able to turn the balloon too much which meant we didn't get the right light on our side.  An extra of the shot from the balloon.

We met up with the rest of the group who had found a cheetah on kill.  I am sparing you those photos.

The others are of birdie num nums.  The inevitable lilac breasted roller and cinnamon breasted bee eater.

I am now in Rhino Watch but about to head off for a lecture so back later.
