Sunny and cool

Such was this afternoon in Auckland. In the shade, it was more cold than cool. The sun was very warming, and the light was bright.

On our way back to the apartment after sharing afternoon tea with cake for S' brother's birthday, we paused at Coyle Park, in Point Chevalier. I liked the inclusion of the Meola reef in the foreground, formed by a lava flow from southwest of here, and Rangitoto Island, the largest and most recently formed volcano in Auckland, in the distance.

Between them is the human construction of the Auckland harbour Bridge, connecting the central city to the North Shore since the early 1960s.
